On 30 June 2026, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to UNESCAP and Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Ardasher Qodiri, met with Mr. Shombi Sharp, Deputy Executive Secretary of UNESCAP for Partnerships and Coordination in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between Tajikistan and UNESCAP and reviewed opportunities to further enhance cooperation in support of sustainable development. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in regional connectivity, trade and transport facilitation, digital transformation, climate resilience, the green economy, renewable energy, and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The parties also discussed partnerships with international and regional institutions to advance priority development projects, as well as the outcomes of the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018–2028, and the Regional Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference, which were held on 25-28 May 2026 in Dushanbe.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in promoting sustainable and inclusive development across the Asia-Pacific region.
