On 30 June 2026, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to UNESCAP and Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Ardasher Qodiri, met with Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of UNESCAP.
The meeting reviewed the current state of cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and UNESCAP and explored opportunities to further strengthen collaboration, particularly in the areas of water resources, climate action, and the implementation of relevant UNESCAP resolutions aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The parties also discussed enhancing cooperation between UNESCAP and relevant ministries and government agencies of Tajikistan through technical assistance, capacity-building initiatives, and the implementation of joint projects.
Ambassador Qodiri expressed appreciation for UNESCAP’s continued support and reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to advancing cooperation on the Sustainable Development Goals and regional priorities. Ms. Alisjahbana reaffirmed UNESCAP’s readiness to support Tajikistan through enhanced regional cooperation and technical assistance.
The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, reaffirming the mutual commitment of both sides to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and UNESCAP.
