Tajikistan’s potential in tourism, presented at the 2nd World Islamic Tourism Conference in Malaysia

From 15 to 17 November, 2021, the Islamic Tourism Centre hosted the 2nd World Islamic Tourism Conference in a hybrid format with the theme “Islamic Tourism: New Norms and Revitalization”.

The conference was officiated by Honorable Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia.
On November 15, 2021, H.E Ardasher Qodiri, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia, participated as a panelist in the “Ambassadors and Leaders Forum” as part of this event.

During the forum, the Ambassador of Tajikistan highlighted Malaysia as the country that commendably offered and promoted the concepts of Islamic Tourism & Halal Industry to the world, which were even accepted by many states with no Muslim majority.

The Ambassador went on to add that the distortion of basic principles of the Islamic religion, which prominently exist in today’s world, clearly demonstrates to us the prolonged crisis that the Islamic world has been facing. The Ambassador emphasized that the introduction and expansion of Islamic Tourism could potentially play a crucial role in presenting Islam as the religion of peace, harmony and tolerance that it truly is. Islamic tourism can serve as a good basis for promoting Islamic values in an authentically representative way. “Tourism is one of the main directions through which we can promote mutual understanding and coexistence amongst our people,” he asserted.
Following H.E. Ardasher Qodiri’s speech, a video featuring Tajikistan’s prime touristic attractions was screened, and various other related videos will continue to be screened live throughout the conference.

Numerous Ambassadors and tourism experts exchanged valuable views and thoughts on the way forward in terms of revitalizing and developing Islamic tourism during this post-pandemic era so as to ensure accessibility of high-quality services for all.
