
State Visit of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to the Kyrgyz Republic
On March 12–13, 2025, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, undertook a state visit to the Kyrgyz Republic at the invitation of His Excellency Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic. This visit marked a significant milestone in Tajik-Kyrgyz relations, reinforcing the spirit of friendship, trust, and good neighborliness between the two brotherly nations.
During the visit, the Heads of State held extensive discussions, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation. The key areas of focus included political dialogue, trade and economic relations, investment, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and deepening cooperation across all sectors.
A landmark achievement of the visit was the signing of the Treaty on the State Border between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, which was agreed upon through bilateral negotiations and holds historic significance for both countries. The treaty finalizes the border delimitation process, providing a firm legal foundation for stability and prosperity. The Leaders of the two countries underscored that this agreement symbolizes mutual trust and marks the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral relations. His Excellency President Emomali Rahmon and His Excellency President Sadyr Japarov declared that the Tajik-Kyrgyz border will be a border of eternal friendship and good neighborliness.
As a result of the visit, a number of bilateral agreements were signed, covering a wide range of cooperation areas. These include an intergovernmental economic cooperation program, agreements on the development of transport and border infrastructure, and memorandums of understanding in the fields of water resources, energy, industry, and agriculture. Additionally, agreements were reached on youth policy, sports, and tourism, and the capitals of both nations, Dushanbe and Bishkek, signed a sister-city agreement to enhance city-to-city cooperation.

This historic document is expected to be signed during the upcoming celebration of the International Day of Nowruz in the ancient Tajik city of Khujand.
The outcomes of President Emomali Rahmon’s visit to the Kyrgyz Republic reaffirm the commitment of both nations to expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation for the benefit of their peoples.
