Today, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Shixin Chen.
The meeting was focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation.
President Emomali Rahmon described the opportunity to meet as an important step in strengthening ties between Tajikistan and the ADB.
The parties noted the need to develop entrepreneurship and improve the investment climate in Tajikistan, as well as to strengthen cooperation in the framework of the third subprogram of the Investment Climate Reform Program.
It was emphasized that over the years of cooperation, the ADB has allocated about $1.8 billion as soft loans, grants and technical assistance aimed at implementing important investment projects in various socio-economic areas of Tajikistan.
The meeting was also centered on the implementation of 16 investment projects in the fields of transport, energy, agriculture, health, education and urban development.
It was noted the need to establish cooperation in promising areas of private sector development, especially productive entrepreneurship and promotion of regional cooperation, reconstruction and construction of production facilities, power lines, development of transport and road infrastructure, including railway, and food security.
Both parties also discussed the development of cooperation in the priority and strategic sectors of Tajikistan, including the achievement of energy independence and food security.
