
On May 29, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Armida Salsiah Alishahbana, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the first High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
The President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, stated that we consider the contribution of the Organization, especially its economic and social body, to the development of various sectors of the country to be important.
Great attention was paid to solving the problems of the modern world, including the water and climate agenda and the adoption of the resolution proposed by Tajikistan on the topic “Strengthening cooperation on water and climate issues in the Asia-Pacific region”.
Infrastructure development and the establishment of regional logistics centers, access to sustainable energy, the development of agricultural sectors and the creation of new jobs were other topics of discussion.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan, as a landlocked country, is satisfied with the implementation of the Commission’s programs in the areas of green bonds, paperless cross-border trade, financing the energy sector, emergencies, attracting direct investors, implementing digital technologies, and supporting the green transport project.
