On 22 April 2021, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia Ardasher Qodiri met with the Deputy Secretary General (Trade) of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia Mr. Hairil Yahri Yaacob at the Menara MITI in Kuala Lumpur.
Accompanying Mr. Hairil Yahri Yaacob were Director of the Bilateral Economic and Trade Relations Department of MITI Ms. Kavitha Mathuvay, Director of the Investment Policy and Trade Facilitation Department of MITI Mr. Syed Mohd Faizal Syed Mohd Dardin, Director of the Central, West, South Asia and Africa Section and Export Promotion and Market Access Division of the MATRADE Mr. Mansor Shah Wahid, Senior Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Division of MIDA Mr. Sukri Abu Bakar.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the progress of consideration of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of Malaysia for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments and the Memorandum of Understanding between Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and State Unitary Enterprise “Tajinvest” under the State Committee on Investment and the mechanism for implementing agreements.
The sides also discussed the prospects for expanding trade cooperation between two friendly countries and the possibilities of increasing trade turnover between the regions.
At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to strengthen further cooperation in various fields between the two friendly countries.
