Embassy of Tajikistan celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Malaysia

On June 30, 2022, The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, the Embassies of the Central Asian countries in Kuala Lumpur – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia (IDFR) organized the Symposium dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the Central Asian countries under the title “The New Axis of Growth” which was accompanied by a cultural event at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.

The keynote speech was made by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Dato Kamarudin Jaffar at the opening ceremony and during the Symposium with the participation of the Ambassadors of the Central Asian countries, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of ministries and agencies, researchers and scholars of Malaysia were discussed about diplomatic relations, prospects for economic integration and future ways of expanding regional cooperation between Malaysia and Central Asian countries.

Ambassador of Tajikistan A. Qodiri during his speech stressed that the Government of Tajikistan attaches great importance to strengthening friendly relations with Malaysia, and developing cooperation with Malaysia is one of the priority directions of Tajikistan’s Foreign Policy. Malaysia is a reliable friend and partner in the fast-growing region of Southeast Asia. It was also noted that Tajikistan can play the role of a trade gateway for Malaysia to Central Asia, Afghanistan and other neighbouring countries. At the same time, Malaysia can be a connecting link for Tajikistan with ASEAN countries. Tajikistan is interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with Malaysia in the development of wide-ranging cooperation in economic, financial, educational, touristic, scientific, technical and intercultural relations.

The event included a cultural program with national dances and songs, an exhibition of folk handicrafts, photographs and other information.
