Participating in the ESCAP 82nd session

On 20 – 24 April 2026, in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand H.E. Mr. Ardasher Qodiri – Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to ESCAP participates in the 82nd session of ESCAP. In the session Tajikistan’s Ambassador delivered his speeches regarding country statement under agenda item 2(a) general debate on the theme topic, “Opportunities and Solution for sustainable future”, agenda item 3 “Leaving no one behind: advancing a society for all ages in Asia and the Pacific” and agenda item 4 “Special Body on Least Developed, Landlocked Developing and Small Island Developing States”.

In his speeches, Tajikistan’s representative briefed the participants about the initiatives of Tajikistan and implementation of national strategies which meet to the achieving SDG in national and international levels.

The main points highlighted Tajikistan’s commitment to prioritizing sustainable development despite the challenges of being a landlocked, mountainous country vulnerable to climate change, limited connectivity, and natural disasters, while viewing these constraints as opportunities for resilience and cooperation. It was also emphasized the importance of a balanced approach across economic, social, and environmental dimensions, focusing on key priorities such as advancing water and climate action, promoting renewable energy and green growth, strengthening regional connectivity and transport infrastructure, fostering digital transformation and innovation, and investing in human capital and social inclusion. In alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Tajikistan’s national strategy supports economic diversification, environmental protection, and social well-being, while calling for stronger international cooperation, increased financing, and technology transfer and it also underscored key global initiatives led by Tajikistan, including the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018–2028.

In the conclusion Permanent Representative of Tajikistan invited ESCAP Members and Associate Members and stakeholders to take an active part in the 4th Dushanbe Water Conference and Asia – Pacific Regional Preparatory meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference scheduled to be held on 25 – 28 May 2026, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
