On October 7, 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan, in collaboration with the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) and the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS), hosted the opening ceremony of the cultural event “Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh: A Literary Masterpiece.” The event saw the participation of high-level guests, including members of the Royal families, heads of diplomatic missions, professors, researchers, media, and culture enthusiasts.
The program included an exhibition of illustrations from ancient Shahnameh manuscripts, a documentary film produced by the Embassy of Tajikistan in Malaysia, and the feature movie Rustam and Suhrob. Additionally, guests were welcomed to a “Tajik Corner” featuring national dresses, embroidery, dishes, and Shahnameh books.
During the opening ceremony, H.E. Ardasher Qodiri, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia, delivered a speech highlighting the role of Abulqosim Firdawsi and his Shahnameh in preserving the Persian Tajik language. The Shahnameh as a literary chronicle of Persian peoples, was recognized as an outstanding monument in the world literature.
The exhibition will continue to be open for the public until the 17th of October 2024, which will give more people the chance to familiarize themselves with the greatest epic of Persian-Tajik literature.
