On February 17-18, 2022, a virtual event was held in Kuala Lumpur on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, which was attended by the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia.
On February 18, within the framework of the mentioned event, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan showed two short videos about the biography of Mavlana Jalaluddin Rumi and one of his Mathnavi’s stories, which deals with the topic of language, as well as a poem by Bozor Sobir “Mother Language” performed by Tajik singer Asomiddin Khairuddinov.
It should be noted that the International Mother Language Day has been observed every year since 21 February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. In 1999, the UNESCO General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming this day as International Mother Language Day.
