On June 30, 2020, a high-level video conference was held in C5 + 1 format with the participation of Central Asian Foreign Ministers and the US Secretary of State.
The parties discussed issues related to the fight against COVID-19, its repercussions for healthcare and the economy areas, the efforts of countries to eliminate it, economic stability, expansion of regional cooperation and regional security.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin highlighted the importance of the steps taken by the Government to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the role of regional cooperation, the assistance of partners in this process, and proposed to undertake measures to prevent the new wave while quarantine system will ease gradually.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan emphasized that economic and environmental working groups of the C5+1 format can also play an important role in overcoming problems of their areas.
The American side expressed its readiness to use its potential for the economic development of the Central Asian region and the expansion of trade.
Participants pointed out the need for greater economic and trade integration and called for enhanced cooperation to strengthen security in the region.
