On September 5, 2024, in celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, the Embassy of Tajikistan in Malaysia hosted an event for the national football team at the InterContinental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. His Excellency Ardasher Qodiri, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Malaysia, welcomed the team, emphasizing the importance of teamwork for success on the international stage. He congratulated everyone on the upcoming Independence Day and wished the team success in the Merdeka Cup 2024, expressing confidence in their hard work and professionalism.
The event was also attended by Vice Presidents of the Football Association of Malaysia, Mohd Firdaus bin Mohamed and Dato’ Posa bin Haji Majais and other representatives, highlighting the importance of sports cooperation between the two nations.
The Ambassador also spoke about Tajikistan’s achievements under the wise leadership of His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, particularly in sports, and highlighted an initiative by Mr. Rustam Emomali, President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan to recognize May 25 as World Football Day.
Head coach Gela Shekiladze and captain Ahtam Nazarov thanked His Excellency Ardasher Qodiri for his support and warm welcome. The Ambassador concluded the event by wishing the team success in their upcoming match against the Philippines, expressing confidence in their ability to bring pride to Tajik fans.
